  • S2E12 Is Desire a Sin? Consumer culture, soul callings and morality
    Jun 2 2026

According to Buddhism, desire is suffering—a yearning for something other than what is here in this moment. But desire can also bring passion, meaning, creativity, and direction. So how do we tell the difference between egoic craving and authentic soul desire?

In this episode, we explore the tension between the desires that drain and numb us, and the deeper callings that strengthen, enliven, and align us with who we really are. We reflect on addiction, temptation, spiritual surrender, and the idea that asking for help—from community, from God, from something beyond ourselves—can reconnect us to inner strength when willpower alone isn’t enough.

Along the way, we question whether modern consumer culture has normalised the very impulses once described as the seven deadly sins, creating a cycle of stress, escapism, and disconnection. Ultimately, this conversation is about learning to discern which desires diminish us, which desires awaken us, and how to listen more deeply to the soul beneath the noise.

Featuring recurring references to the iconic 90s anthem Freed from Desire by Gala - go check it out, what a banger.

  • S2E11 Sin, Evil, & the Path to Self-Love
    May 19 2026

What do concepts like sin and evil mean in a modern world that largely dismisses them as outdated religious ideas? In this episode, we explore whether these ancient concepts still point toward something psychologically and spiritually real beneath the language and cultural baggage.

We consider the seven deadly sins through the lens of modern psychology, self-awareness, and personal growth, asking whether “sin” might simply describe the ways we lose ourselves to destructive patterns, compulsions, and low-energy states. Is evil an external force, an internal impulse, or something collectively generated through fear, disconnection, and unconscious behaviour? And what kind of strength is required to resist the pull of self-destruction and choose something more loving instead?

We also reflect on the original Christian meaning of sin as simply “to err” — to make a mistake — and how this differs from the shame-heavy interpretations that later emerged through oppressive religious structures. Rather than condemnation, we explore sin as an opportunity for awareness, compassion, redemption, and growth. Perhaps the real purpose of temptation is not to punish us, but to teach us self-love, discernment, and how to move more consciously toward the light.

  • S2E10 The Paradoxical Relationship Between Fear and Desire
    Apr 17 2026

Is your greatest fear also your deepest desire? In this episode, we explore the powerful connection between what scares us and what calls us forward. Often, fear isn’t a sign to retreat but a signal pointing toward the very path our soul longs to follow. Standing on the edge of possibility, we may wonder: What if I fail? Or possibly even worse: what if I succeed?

We discuss how the desires of the soul can clash with the protective instincts of the personality, especially when it comes to creative expression. Using the paradox of the artist as an example, we reflect on the tension between the longing to share our gifts and the fear of being seen. Letting go of social identities that once kept us safe can feel deeply vulnerable, yet it is often necessary for authentic expression.

Drawing on the well-known idea from Marianne Williamson that our greatest fear is not our darkness but our light, we consider how much of this fear is innate and how much is shaped by social conditioning. Ultimately, this conversation invites us to step toward our fears with curiosity, trusting that they may conceal the very gold we are here to uncover—and the burning light waiting to be expressed.
