An expert in operational leadership and emergency response , Richard has spent the last decade managing logistics and strategy in some of the world’s most complex crisis settings, from armed conflicts to major natural disasters. Now, he’s applying that hard-won field experience to the cosmos. Drawing on years of coordinating relief efforts on the ground, Richard brings a gritty, logistical realism to his sci-fi. He understands exactly what it takes to keep a team functioning when the comms go down and the supplies run low, whether that’s in a disaster zone on Earth or aboard the Kia-Kaha facing an alien anomaly. When not writing about Dyson spheres or rogue AIs, he lives in Yorkshire, where he spends his time skiing and clarifying that having a Master’s degree in “Disasters” doesn’t mean he causes them.
