I grew up on a farm. One of My jobs was to collect the eggs every day. On Saturdays my job was to bake a cake with the cracked eggs. That's how I discovered that even a cracked egg has gold inside. When I work with people the cracks don't worry me, because I'm on the search for the gold they have inside. I help them discover it for themselves. It's probably why the guests on my TV show discover things about themselves from my questions. And why readers of my books learn about themselves as well as the topic at hand. And why I consistently refine my tasks as a key note speaker to help each member of my audience find the gold for themselves. I've been an executive for over 40 years, but it was growing up on a farm that made me someone who has never stopped learning from the surprises in life and the knowledge that there is gold within every one of us. I’ve been described as a thought leader on resilience, a transition consultant, tv and podcast Host, speaker, a bestselling author. I call myself a puzzle enthusiast. I’ve been on the faculty at Columbia University and a Division Chief at the World Bank. My education began in mathematics and now includes a Ph.D. in sociology with an emphasis on organizational psychology. I’ve written five books. Three of which are still available: • Riding the Current a book that looks carefully at how adults bring new information into their lives, • Essays in Two Voices that guides individuals or groups wishing to explore a topic together to find new understandings, and my latest book, • Unlocked: Discover How to Embrace the Unexpected, that explores how anyone can nurture their resilience so that it is there when it is needed. I’ve contributed to six other books such as Smarter Innovation and Wake Me Up When the Data Is Over. I also write a blog, called ‘Resilient Leader‘, for Psychology Today, and I write a weekly blog, Grounds for Thought, presented as part of my television show, Unlocked with Madelyn Blair on e360tv and my YouTube channel. My audience tends to be accomplished, reflective adults often in the midst of meaningful life or career transitions who seek depth, psychological insight, and practical wisdom to navigate complexity with resilience and intention. Yet my style is always to keep the text clear and open to any reader. My focus is always to help my audience discover their own gold they have within.
