Katharine Odgen Michaels is the lead writer of The Gambler, a 1997 award-winning film produced in collaboration with the celebrated Hungarian Director, Karoly Makk. Other published works include a series of essays published in The Threepenny Review; and introduction to a new Italian translation of the Joseph Conrad novel, The Mirror of the Sea, published by Rizzoli-Mondadori in June 2021; and Rembrandt: Etchings, a Catalogue for a show of original prints at the Barclay Simpson Fine Arts Gallery in 1989. Literary Executor and Editor for the work of her award-winning writer husband, Leonard Michaels, she published , with farer, Straus & Giroux, selected fiction and non-fiction collections of his work in 2007 and 2009. Since 1990, she has restored over 15 antique farmhouses and villas in Tuscany and Umbria, Italy for use by partners and paying guests. She splits her time between Umbria and Berkley, CA.
