Ed Miller was born into a trucking family in 1948 in Marion, NC. He began learning the business at an early age by driving farm tractors and trucks. When he was 13, he was driving tractor-trailers by moving the equipment around a warehouse yard, and by backing trailers into a loading dock. He attended college for one year and served nearly two years in a U.S. Navy Construction Battalion, better known as the Seabees, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, where he hauled supplies and equipment by trucks and he operated heavy equipment. He returned to college and financed his studies by driving tractor-trailers part time. In 1976, he accepted a management position with a trucking company and spent the next 40 years in operations management, including transportation brokerage, and he served seven years working in the Office of Freight Logistics, Maryland Department of Transportation, working with commercial vehicle enforcement officials at local, state, and federal agencies. Ed lives in Rising Sun, MD with his wife of 39 years. They have three children and two grandchildren .
