Originally from North Carolina, she and her husband made their home in Birmingham, Alabama, where they finished raising three fantastic offspring through their teenage years without developing any facial tics. They're now living their best lives in Pawleys Island, SC. She's the winner of the regional Hackney Literary Award in Alabama and the Katherine Paterson Award for Young Adult Literature.
