Athena Poindexter was born in Heidelberg, Germany and spent most of her life in Minnesota, where the long winters and the silence between neighbors gave her plenty of material. She is the author of the psychological thriller series The Sins We Bury and several standalone novels including Hidden Tides and Pine Hollow. Her books explore coercive control, institutional betrayal, and the specific terror of being disbelieved by the people closest to you. The Bad Wife is her most ambitious work — a tightly constructed thriller about a woman systematically erased from her own life, and what she does to get back into it.
