The Trouble with Angels, Part 1 Summary

A grieving human doesn’t get a tidy spiritual awakening—she gets drafted into celestial bureaucracy.

Bob, a weary, kind “custodial angel” armed with a pencil and sheer exhausted competence, guides Hannah through the true shape of the afterlife: Heaven as upper administration and Hell rebranded as Your Afterlife™—less eternal torture, more rehabilitation, theater tech, and departments doing their best with limited staffing. As Hannah meets overworked souls, unexpected allies, and a system that’s strangely compassionate (and still dangerously fragile), new questions surface: Why does everything feel… off? Who’s moving power through the channels with no accountability?

Meanwhile, the archangels Michael and Gabriel barrel into the story like a divine road trip with unresolved sibling history and very strong opinions about humanity.

This two-hour supercut of Part 1 (Chapters 1–9) delivers dark comedy with tenderness, found family across species, and the first hints of a bigger mystery—because in this universe, the paperwork isn’t metaphor.
