GAZA Today: Would You Turn Your Back. Everyone knows what Gaza is. A strip of land in the Middle East, being vociferously fought over. I don't want to get into the Politics of it, but at least a brush with it is unavoidable if you attempt any kind of dialogue or description of the occurrences that are happening there — truly awful. This poem is a short one, and keeps to the suffering of its people, and not delving too much into sides of the Political spectrum. I think the suffering in a modern day scenario with instant and graphic footage of this one-sided war is horrific.

A poem about the cubist painter of the last Century (20th). He was a surrealist artist, and in his earlier works painted in the neoclassical. Born in Spain, he escaped Franco's regime by being in exile in France. Some of his cubist art may have been influenced by his knowledge of the atrocities committed during the Spanish Civil war, especially in his Masterpiece Guernica. A lot of his Art is treasured Worldwide, and many of his paintings fetch huge sums at auction.

This Poem is about the art of cold swimming, and it is an art. You need eventually to be able to breath properly, and pace yourself in cold water, timing is all important, observing the seasons as to how much your 'own' body may take. We're all built differently, some of us have seal skin ;) others paper. But we can all enter cold water for our own purification and enjoyment and that feeling of being blessed. This poem was inspired by a program I saw on silkworms and their germination and metamorphosis into adult moths (which they generally never get to because of the demand for their silk).

The Wolf poem was inspired by William Blake's "The Tyger". It has the same regular form & meter as "The Tyger". With tempo and stanza (of the quatrain type), and is about one single animal in the natural world. Where it differs from William Blake's poem is that the "The Tyger" has more religious connotations, not surprising for the times in which it was written.
