Within our minds, time flows eternal in parallel streams, carrying a host of memories and conflicting emotions and we are connected by webs of intermittent visibility to the lives of many whom we have never even met. This is what we come to realise as we join Clarissa Dalloway on a fine June day in 1923, as she prepares a party she is giving that night for London's social and political elite. Adeline Virginia Woolf (January 1882-1941) was an English writer and one of the preeminent modernists of the 20th century. "Kew Gardens" is a short story set in the London botanic garden of the same name on a hot July day. The narrative consists of brief evocative snapshots of four groups of people as they pass by a flowerbed.

A party of English people is aboard the Euphrosyne, bound for South America. Among them is Rachel Vinrace, a young girl, innocent and wholly ignorant of the world of politics and society, books, sex, love and marriage. She is a free spirit half-caught, momentarily and passionately, by Terence Hewet, an aspiring writer who she meets in Santa Marina. But their engagement is to end abruptly, and tragically. Virginia Woolf's first novel, published in 1915, is a haunting exploration of a young woman's mind.

La historia sigue a Oliver Bacon, un joyero modesto, que se enamora perdidamente de la duquesa de Lambourne, una mujer de alta alcurnia. A pesar de las diferencias sociales abismales entre ellos, Bacon cree que puede conquistar el corazón de la duquesa con un regalo extraordinario: un collar de esmeraldas.
