  • 191. Re-release: Should I have a vaginal birth or a caesarean?
    Apr 6 2026

In this re-released ep of The Kick, Dr Pat and Brigid cover the pros and cons of both vaginal birth and caesarean birth.

This is a very chatty episode because the answer is…nuanced.

The first question we delve into is why someone would ask this question?
In this episode we talk about:
    • A medical indication where a Caesarean section is suggested.
    • A history of trauma, or fear surrounding vaginal birth.
    • Concern about sexual function after vaginal birth
    • Maybe a birth story has made someone think ‘nope, not for me.’
    • Or they feel a planned Caesarean section seems more manageable.

You can find links to the episodes Brigid talks about below:

Episode 30. Assisted delivery, a really common birth intervention here.

Episode 64. What happens in a planned caesarean? here.
