Friday, May 8th: In Episode 765 of The Daily Grind, we continue The Gospel According to Ezekiel with Part 5, “The End Has Come,” from Ezekiel 6–7. God speaks against the mountains and high places of Israel where idol worship had spread throughout the land. The altars, shrines, and false gods the people trusted are about to be destroyed, revealing the emptiness of everything they placed above God. Throughout these chapters, one phrase repeats again and again: “Then they will know that I am the Lord.” God is stripping away false securities so His people can finally see reality clearly. Sword, famine, plague, and exile are coming, and the people who once felt secure will be scattered among the nations. Wealth, power, and religious identity will not be able to save them when the end arrives. Yet even in the middle of judgment, God speaks with grief over His people’s unfaithful hearts. Ezekiel reminds us that idols are not just ancient statues; anything we trust more than God can shape and control us. This chapter warns us that ignored truth eventually catches up to us, but it also leaves a small thread of hope: God still preserves a remnant. Even in judgment, His mercy has not completely disappeared.

Thursday, May 7th: In Episode 764 of The Daily Grind, we continue The Gospel According to Ezekiel with Part 4, “When Judgment Becomes Inevitable,” from Ezekiel 5. God gives Ezekiel another powerful sign—shaving his head and dividing the hair into thirds—to show what is coming: destruction, violence, and exile. A small remnant is preserved, but even that comes through loss, reminding us that judgment is real and far-reaching. God explains that Jerusalem was placed at the center of the nations and given more truth and access than any other people, yet they rebelled even more than those around them. This reveals a sobering truth: greater privilege brings greater responsibility. Because they rejected what they knew, judgment is no longer avoidable. When God stands against something, nothing can hold it up—not identity, not tradition, not proximity to sacred things. This chapter exposes that external connection to God cannot replace internal faithfulness. It also reminds us that God’s warnings are not empty; they are acts of mercy meant to turn hearts before it is too late. The question this passage leaves us with is simple and personal: what are we doing with the truth we’ve been given?

Wednesday, May 6th: In Episode 763 of The Daily Grind, we continue The Gospel According to Ezekiel with Part 3, “The Siege Begins,” from Ezekiel 4. God tells Ezekiel to stop just speaking the message and start showing it through dramatic, physical signs. Ezekiel builds a model of Jerusalem under siege, making it clear that judgment is not avoidable. The iron plate symbolizes the growing separation between God and His people caused by persistent rebellion. As Ezekiel lies on his side for 390 days and then 40 more, he carries the weight of generations of sin. God then gives instructions about rationed food and water, pointing to the fear and scarcity that will come during the siege. The shocking command about cooking food over human waste reveals that exile will bring uncleanness and spiritual loss. Ezekiel pushes back, and God shows mercy, reminding us that even in judgment, relationship remains. The message shifts from uncleanness to scarcity as God declares He will remove bread and water from Jerusalem. This chapter shows that sin leads somewhere, and God warns His people before consequences arrive. The question left for us is simple: are we listening?
