• Don't Lose Your Head
    Apr 30 2026

In days of yore (aka medieval Britain), merchants would travel from hamlet to hamlet negotiating with the various Lords, through their Stewards and Bailiffs, in order to provide chain mail, iron braces and cladding for drawbridges, and reinforcements for battlements. Often, the merchant would barter for food, tools, or other supplies. The most famous of these merchants was named Joen (later changed to the modern spelling of "Joan") of Winchester. Renowned for his craft and guile in negotiation as well as his legendary drinking prowess (he once challenged the Duke of Argyle to a mead drinking contest, from which the Duke suffered a reported hangover of 5 days). Joen was thought to have been born to a Norse warrior father and a French washerwoman mother. HIs complexion was said to be paler than the new moon and his eyes as black as coals. All across the land, as Joen proceeded along the winding lanes to castle after castle, the peasants and their Reeves would call out "Hail Joen, armour trading again?" It is from this unlikely source, that singer Sally Butterslip created her pseudonym.

If Randy were to title this podcast, he’d probably call it "Maybe you should lose your head" or possibly, "Why does my song not sound good?"

NOTE: Skip forward to 27:15 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

The music at the end of the episode is the most brilliant "Bottom End Machine" by Randy Woods Band, from their second record - "Soul Hammer". Kev played a crucial role in the shooting of the music video, by pulling a far more talented man around in a child's wagon. And shooting some random video footage.... go check out the video here! https://youtu.be/efBpffvB84k

  • Leaving Home Ain't Easy
    Apr 23 2026

Randy simply will not get over the title of this album. He just can't deal with the fact that an album called "Jazz" features no jazz. There's plenty of rock n roll, a wee bit of vaudeville, there's some proto-disco, and a spicy eastern flavour to the title track. But what are we getting from Bri today and will Randy love it or not? When Kev was young, Jazz was one of his favourite albums, but that had as much to do with the boobies poster as it did the songs! This isn't the first time Brian has opined about being away from home and on today's episode, we'll be listening to "Leaving Home Ain't Easy".

If Randy were to title this podcast, he’d probably call it "Home is where the heart is" or possibly, "Mom, could you do my laundry?"

NOTE: Skip forward to 24:11 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

The music at the end of the episode is the sensational final track from Randy Woods Band's selt-titled debut. It's a very musically complex little jam titled "Faded American" and you should go listen to it now! You can find it here... https://youtu.be/AFT5XH8mEYM

  • It's a Beautiful Day
    Apr 16 2026

When is a song not a song? When is a dog not a dog? When is a hot dog not a hot dog? When is a Champion a Champion? And when is dust just a big old bunch of dead skin, fly legs, sand, grit, and fragments of belly button lint? I won't lie to you, only one of those questions is even remotely discussed on today's episode of Seaside Pod Review. That's the podcast you're about to listen to. If you click play that is. If you don't, well then I guess you can vete a la mierda.

This week's song wraps up Made in Heaven! It's the unreprised opening track; "It's a Beautiful Day"

If Kev were to title this podcast, he’d probably call it “C'est une belle journée”, or possibly, “Es ist ein wunderschöner Tag”

NOTE: Skip forward to 28:26 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

The music at the end of the episode is the last song on Side A of Randy Woods Band's debut album. It's a sonically gorgeous track titled "That and Then Some" and it happens to be another one of Kev's favourite Randy compositions. You can go check it out here and while you're there, subscribe to Randy's channel. : https://youtu.be/7OING7e8L5w

  • Avril Lavigne - Unwanted
    Apr 9 2026

We're listening to a Canadian pop star tonight. She likes baggy pants and baggy songs. She's into sk8ter bois and spelling other things completely incorrectly too. She hails from Belleville, Ontario and holds dual Canadian/French Citizenship. She sometimes plays guitar and was once married to a horse named Chad.

If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Unwanted", or possibly, "Unoriginal"

The twenty fourth installment in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers a song submitted by regular Kofi contributor Barry John Williams. It was a bit of a surprise that a hardy Welshman such as Barry would give us a song from a teeny bopper debut album but hey, whatever floats your boat Baz! No guilty pleasures! I just hope you don't wear green guyliner and mope about "listenin' to me tapes!" in your bedroom. Ths is titled "Unwanted" by Avril Lavigne, from her first major label release, "Let Go".

The song at the end is Kev's song about a useless lump of carbon, entitled "No Good (For You)". You can find it here: https://youtu.be/XvFVXET1qRo

The poyum included in the episode is by my old pal Paul Cather. It's called Tonic and you can find it here : https://youtu.be/4s1lrAA1w7g

  • Crazy Little Thing Called Love
    Apr 2 2026

This week's song wraps up Side A of "The Game" and it's the last song we'll cover from this flawless album.

If Kev were to title this podcast, he’d probably call it "Una cosita loca llamada amor", or possibly, "Se sacude por todas partes como una medusa"

NOTE: Skip forward to 23:57 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

The music at the end of the episode is the lead track from Randy Woods Band's debut album. It's a superb track titled "Breakdown In Kindness" and it happens to be one of Kev's very favourite songs that Randy has ever written. But don't anyone go telling him that because we're men. And men don't compliment each other! You can go check it out here : https://youtu.be/7OING7e8L5w

  • Holy F*** It's a Music Podcaster!
    Mar 26 2026

Back in May of 2020, Randy and Kev took their first baby steps into the podcasting world. They had no goddamn clue what they were doing and only one of them had a decent mic! We figured the best way to start a podcast would be to see if we were any good at interviews, or even speaking into microphones. Randy had to edit, Kev had to do artwork and no one listened... or watched. Because folks, we put this fucker up on Youtube!

We couldn't record this week so inspirted by the wonderful suggestion by Barry John Williams' , here is the very first podcast Randy and Kev ever recorded!

If Kev were to title this podcast, he’d probably call it “I was in peak physical condition back then” or possibly, “But it helps if your microphone is pointing the right way…..”

The music at the end of the episode is from Absofunkinlutely's "red album", Blues Kid City. It's the sizzling hot instrumental titled "Moose Jaw Coleslaw". I've been to Moose Jaw and I've had the coleslaw. It was excellent. Just like this song. Dig it here : https://youtu.be/nFomfEPY8fM

  • Play the Game
    Mar 19 2026

There once was a man in Vancouver

Whose appendage got stuck in the hoover

    He said, with a shout,

"Get it out, get it out!!!"

    Before trying the Heimlich maneuver!

Randy's away, Kev's home, and we're covering the opening track, "Play the Game", from 1980's triumphant masterpiece, The Game. Also, Obi Wan Kenobi? Weird!

If Kev were to title this podcast, he’d probably call it “Play the Game”, or possibly, “Don’t play baseball. Tis a boring game!” !

NOTE: Skip forward to 31:27 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

The music at the end of the episode is from Absofunkinlutely's "black album", Residential Gas Leak. It's called Tell Me. I told you. Now go and listen to it here: https://youtu.be/l4qFPhc1Te0

  • City Boy - Oddball Dance
    Mar 12 2026

We're not gonna lie. You'll probably hate this song. It's far too sophisticated for the type of primitive Def Leppard loving classic classic rock fan we seem to mainly attract. You'll probably be waiting for a face-melting guitar solo followed by a lyric about a boobs. Well, Corey, you're gonna be disappointed mate because this is closer to Art Garfunky than it is to Monogene Simmons!

If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Oddball Dance", or possibly, "What in the hairy green fuck did we just listen to?"

The twenty third installment in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers a song submitted by and anonymous KoFi regular - and if you're out there in the wilds of the internet and this suddenly pops up on your podcast feed, do let us know who you are so we can say a proper thanks! This one is from a band, City Boy, who neither of us had heard of and the song is called "Oddball Dance!"

The song at the end is the Randy Woods Band barn burner entitled "Blame Shifter". You can find it here: https://youtu.be/O9Op-WQe0EU
