Summary

Left Hand Right Brain is the podcast where JD Lopez, comedian and self proclaimed sensitive artist, has a free flowing conversation with other artists breaking down their creative process and exploring our personal foibles. But, it's not as pretentious as it sounds. We talk about all this and more while kicking back, cracking wise, and having a good time.2025

  • LHRB 390: Podcasts Never Die w/ Royce & Mallory
    May 18 2026

After more than a decade and nearly 400 episodes, Left Hand Right Brain comes to an end.

JD is joined by longtime friend Royce Roeswood and wife Mallory for one final episode reflecting on creativity, friendship, podcasting, growing older, and what it means to intentionally let something go.

The episode revisits clips from the earliest days of the podcast and explores how perspectives change over time. What holds up? What doesn't? What it feels like to hear younger versions of yourself speak back to you years later. Royce and JD discuss art, ambition, burnout, relationships, comedy, ego, storytelling, and the shifting landscape of podcasting itself.

The final segment with Mallory brings the show full circle. After meeting through the podcast years ago, the two reflect on how Left Hand Right Brain became more than just conversations about creativity; it became a living archive of growth, relationships, and change.

This final episode is less about endings and more about transition. The show may be ending, but the friendships, conversations, and recordings remain.

Podcasts never die. Left Hand Right Brain FOREVER!

  • LHRB 389: One Step Closer to The End w/ Paul & Andres
    Apr 20 2026

This week JD brings back longtime collaborators Paul Karolyi and Andres Becerril for a reflective, and at times uncomfortable, look at what this show has been and what it isn't anymore.

JD revisits clips from nearly a decade ago, forcing everyone to confront earlier versions of themselves: the voices, the ambitions, the awkwardness, and the assumptions about creativity, success, and identity. What starts as a clip show quickly turns into a broader conversation about how podcasting has changed, why it's harder to be authentic now, and whether it's better to burn out or deliberately walk away.

Along the way, they get into friendship over time, the shifting meaning of "making it," and the reality that not everything you build is meant to last forever.

  • LHRB 388: The Beginning of The End w/ Patrick Scott
    Apr 13 2026

This episode marks the beginning of the end for Left Hand Right Brain.

This week JD is joined by longtime friend and comedian Patrick Scott to look back at where this podcast started and what it's become. We listen to clips from one of our first episodes together from 2016 and react to them—what holds up, what doesn't, and how much (or how little) we've actually changed.

The conversation moves between comedy, relationships, career choices, and the pressure to grow into something more. It's an honest look at friendship over time and the strange experience of hearing your past self speak back to you.

More than anything, this episode reflects what the podcast has always been: a record of where I was at the time. A running diary of conversations, ideas, and people who mattered.

This is the first of several farewell episodes with guests who shaped the show along the way.
