Bill C-22, Canada's so-called Lawful Access Act, is so invasive that some of the biggest tech companies on the planet are pushing back — and threatening to leave Canada entirely.

Tonight we break down the latest updates on Bill C-22 and what it actually means for every Canadian.

Apple has warned it will never build a backdoor into its products. Meta testified before Parliament that the bill could force companies to install government spyware directly onto their systems. Signal said it would rather pull out of Canada than compromise the privacy of its users. Windscribe called the Carney government corrupt and said it will move its headquarters before complying. NordVPN is considering removing its presence from Canada entirely.

But here's what nobody is telling you — Apple already complies with massive volumes of government data requests in the US and the UK. And Meta? The day after testifying against Bill C-22 in front of Parliament, they quietly removed end-to-end encryption from Instagram direct messages. Your DMs are no longer private.

So while Big Tech fights this bill in public, ask yourself — are they really protecting you?
