About this listen

Graphic Novel Apostle Mark Ohrenberger embarks upon his mission to share great stories from comics and graphic novels with his friends who don't read comics. Will any become Graphic Novel Disciples? We'll see!

The Graphic Novel Apostle Podcast will focus primarily on comic books and original graphic novels from outside the superhero genre: Crime Noir, Horror, Spy Thrillers, Adventure, Supernatural, Comedy, Westerns, Sci-Fi, Slice of Life, and so much more.

We'll cover stories from publishers like Image Comics, Boom! Studios, Dark Horse Comics, Oni Press, AWA, Aftershock, Mad Cave, IDW, and others. And who are we kidding? We'll get into some Marvel and DC books from time to time as well.

  • Ep. 50: Book Club - Fruits Basket, with the Arkansas Potter
    Apr 20 2026

It's a guest's choice book club episode, as we step away from our normal fare and check out the shoujo manga Fruits Basket alongside the Arkansas Potter, Hannah Hinojosa. This series tells the story of an orphaned schoolgirl who finds a home with a family that carries a very unusual secret related to the Chinese zodiac. It's a beautiful story about belonging and learning to find peace in relationships that seem awkward or fraught on the surface.

This is Hannah's second appearance on the podcast. Be sure to check out her prior appearance on our book club covering Art Brut (Episode 11).

Also be sure to check out Hannah's truly gorgeous handmade pottery at the Arkansas Potter webstore and fascinating and informative pottery videos at the Arkansas Potter Youtube channel.

You can find Hannah on most social media platforms at @ArkansasPotter.
