    Steven Chen, MD, MBA is a surgical oncologist in private practice in San Diego, CA. His clinical practice focuses on breastcancer, melanoma, and endocrine diseases.

    Dr. Chen did his medical education, general surgery and critical care training at the University of Michigan where he also received an MBA. After that he went to the John Wayne Cancer Institute for surgical oncology fellowship.

    After time in academics, as Chief of Breast Surgery at UC Davis and then at City of Hope as the associate Program Director of the Surgical Oncology Fellowship, he started his own practice in San Diego.

    He has been very active in organized medicine including as a past President of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and committee positions within the American College of Surgeons, Society for Surgical Oncology, and the American Medical Association.

    His research focuses on quality, cost-effectiveness, and outcomes in cancer care, and the greater health care system.
