  • Leafs Trade for Darren Raddysh + Hire Jim Hiller as Head Coach + NBA Atlantic Division Offseason Preview | Couch Potato Diary
    Jun 19 2026

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been busy already this offseason, and I am not on board with either move.

Darren Raddysh comes over from Tampa Bay in a sign-and-trade for eight years at $8.5 million. He is exactly the type of defenseman Toronto needs on paper, a puck mover who can quarterback a power play, but the term and the dollar amount on a player coming off his one genuinely good NHL season worries me. I break down why this screams desperation more than smart asset management.

Then the Leafs hire Jim Hiller as their new head coach, and I am skeptical here too. I look at what he actually did and did not do with the LA Kings, whether the analytics-friendly partnership with Toronto's front office is enough to make this work, and why I think this could be oil and water for a Leafs roster that does not resemble the team Hiller had in LA.

Then I kick off the NBA Offseason Preview series with the Atlantic Division, the Brooklyn Nets and the Michael Porter Jr question, the Philadelphia 76ers trying to figure out if Joel Embiid and Paul George still fit the timeline, the Boston Celtics and the swirling Jaylen Brown and Giannis rumors, and the newly crowned champion New York Knicks trying to figure out how to keep this roster together under the second apron.

  • Knicks Win the NBA Championship + Torts Fired in Vegas + Hurricanes Win the Stanley Cup | Couch Potato Diary
    Jun 16 2026

Three massive sports stories in one episode, and all of them happened within hours of each other.

The New York Knicks are NBA Champions for the first time since 1973, and it is one of the best franchise turnaround stories in recent NBA history. I break down how they built this team, what made them so hard to beat, and why Jalen Brunson has cemented himself as one of the greatest Knicks of all time. Plus, what the Spurs need to learn from this loss heading into what should be a fascinating offseason.

Then breaking news mid-recordin: John Tortorella is out in Las Vegas. The Golden Knights fire the coach who saved their season and took them to the Stanley Cup Final. I break down whether it is the right call, what it means for Vegas heading into the offseason, and who might be next behind the bench.

And the Carolina Hurricanes are Stanley Cup Champions for the second time in franchise history. Rod Brind'Amour gets his ring. Freddie Anderson gets the cup first in one of the most emotional moments of the entire playoffs. And Vegas runs out of steam against a team that was simply better, fresher, and more cohesive when it counted most. I break down what made Carolina so dominant, going 16-3 in the playoffs, and what this means for the NHL going forward.

  • Spurs Win Game 3 to Make it 2-1 + Stanley Cup Final Game 4 Preview | Couch Potato Diary
    Jun 9 2026

Two of the biggest games in sports are happening right now, and there is a lot to break down.

Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs walked into Madison Square Garden and delivered another mature veteran performance to pull within one game of the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals. The Spurs are doing something genuinely extraordinary, and I break down exactly what made Game 3 so impressive, and why the Knicks need a serious adjustment before Game 4 if they want to close this thing out at home.

Then I turn to the Stanley Cup Final and the massive question hanging over Carolina heading into Game 4 in Las Vegas tonight. The goaltending decision feels like a no-brainer to me, and I make the case for why Rod Brind'Amour has to make the change. Plus, Mitch Marner has been brilliant for Vegas, and I push back on some of the narrative around him that I think has gotten a little out of hand.

This is genuinely one of the best stretches of sports in recent memory. Two incredible Finals. Two massive games coming up. Let's break it all down.

  • Wembanyama's Terrifying Game 1 + Raptors Offseason Preview & Habs Beat Sabres in Game 7 | Couch Potato Diary
    May 20 2026

Three big topics on today's episode of Couch Potato Diary with Peter Klein.

Victor Wembanyama put on a performance in Game 1 against Oklahoma City that should genuinely scare the rest of the NBA. I break down what made it so extraordinary and why the league has never quite seen anything like what he is capable of at both ends of the floor. But the Thunder have been here before, and I make the case for why Oklahoma City is far from done in this series.

Then I turn to the Toronto Raptors, and what a genuinely interesting offseason is setting up for this franchise. There is more to build on from this season than people are giving them credit for, and I lay out what I think the priorities need to be heading into the summer.

And the Montreal Canadiens beat the Buffalo Sabres in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference Semi-Final and advance to the Conference Finals. I break down what that result means and close with some quick predictions for both Conference Finals matchups.

I’m joined by Julian McKenzie of The Athletic for a full breakdown of the Ottawa Senators' season and a look at where the team goes from here.

Plus, we expand the conversation to the rest of the NHL, including the Carolina Hurricanes’ strong play and the latest developments surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs.

  • WWE Cuts Reaction + RAW After WrestleMania Recap & AEW Dynamite
    Apr 25 2026

A lot happened in the wrestling world over the last 48 hours, and there is a lot to unpack.

The WWE roster cuts have generated a ton of reaction, and I want to talk about some of it honestly — including some thoughts that might be unpopular. The talent that was let go deserved better creatively, and some of them will land in much more fulfilling spots. But some of the discourse around how this news got out and who it got directed at feels a little misdirected. Sean Ross Sapp was doing his job. The frustration belongs somewhere else entirely.

Then the RAW after WrestleMania delivered in a big way. Jacob Fatu on Raw, setting up a program with Roman Reigns and the reformed Bloodline, is going to be a fantastic feud. Ethan Page looks like a star from night one. Sol Ruca got her moment. The Street Profits freshen up a tag division that desperately needed it. And Oba Femi is being handled exactly right.

And AEW Dynamite continues to be must-watch television with Darby Allin as champion already putting the title on the line. I love what Darby represents as champion and there is a line from his promo that I think opens a very interesting door for one particular stipulation that has been hanging over AEW for a while now.
