He has a heart of ice . . . but for her, he'd burn the world.
Alex Volkov is a devil blessed with the face of an angel and cursed with a past he can't escape. Driven by a tragedy that has haunted him for most of his life, his ruthless pursuits for success and vengeance leave little room for matters of the heart.
But when he's forced to look after his best friend's sister, he starts to feel something in his chest: A crack. A melt. A fire that could end his world as he knew it.
Ava Chen is a free spirit trapped by nightmares of a childhood she can't remember. But despite her broken past, she's never stopped seeing the beauty in the world . . . including the heart beneath the icy exterior of a man she shouldn't want.
Her brother's best friend. Her neighbor. Her savior and her downfall.
Theirs is a love that was never supposed to happen—but when it does, it unleashes secrets that could destroy them both . . . and everything they hold dear.
Contains mature themes.

It was good to have a male and female narrator, but I wish they wouldn't preform each others lines, a male putting on a female voice and vice versa just grates on me.
underwhelmed

Alex is the best friend of Ava's brother, Joshua. He is a delicious, grumpy, rich cool anti-hero who can basically do everything and is out for revenge.
Ava is a little innocent playing at photography and her brother asks Alex to watch over her whilst he goes on a working assignment and that's when the trouble starts!
Ava has great friends, one a 'real' princess, the other a high profile blogger and her best friend Jules who is just naughty and their banter is very cute. I loved Operation Emotion and laughed out loud at the picnic scenario.
Then all hell breaks loose and I think the author tried too hard to get all the tropes in one book. There were so many twists and turns that you are left spinning.
Then the book goes into boring downtime before it picks up again with more drama and major grovelling which I felt was unnecessary.
I always think endings are the hardest and this one just didn’t work for me. Hopefully her next book will get better and she'll find her rhythm.
Aidan Snow was delicious as Alex but Cindy Kay jarred.
Disappointed

Storywise, it isn't something groundbreaking and I didn't really get into Alex's possesiveness and character overall. He's not the book bf that I could "fall for".
I liked that how him and Ava's characters were opposites that complemented each other and the way that they were falling for each other.
I'm looking forward to read the next books of the series and I really liked the fact that the epilogue teased the story of the next book!
My rating is 3,5/5 overall.
Love the narration!
