really enjoyed the twists and turns and the whole story and character development, some parts were tough to listen to, but in another way it's why the story was so successful as it made you think and made you feel, loved it

Hallie and Ransom were a great duo!

Hallie (aka Brat or Princess), is the daughter of an ex-President of the USA, a 21 year old, misunderstood poor little rich girl who acts like a spoilt brat and who, her parents believe is out of control and they have basically given up on.

Ransom (aka The Robot) has been employed by her parents as her bodyguard to try and keep her on the right track and out of trouble.

Unbeknownst to everyone, the Robot has issues himself and for someone who apparently doesn't experience feelings, it was lovely watching how they both helped each other to be their better selves.

I like books that leave you feeling all gooey and warm inside at the end of the story.

The narration was excellent.

Watch out for triggers of SA and r*pe fantasies.

Thorne Princess by L J Shen. It is a 4.5 ⭐️ read.

You’ve got the banter, the humour, those moments that make you smile without even realising it, and then it turns around and hits you right in the heart when you least expect it.

But what really stood out for me was the FMC.
Having a character with a learning difficulty written this way… it meant so much to me, as I saw myself in her. It felt respectful, thoughtful, and genuinely part of who she is, not something thrown in to make a point or push a narrative. It was handled with care, and because of that, it didn’t take away from the story, it actually made it stronger.

And then, of course… there are those darker threads woven through it. The kind L. J. Shen does so well. That edge, that tension just sitting under the surface, giving the story a little more bite, and this book absolutely delivers on that.

The narration from Samantha Brentmoor and Sebastian York brings all of those layers to life beautifully. The emotion, the humour, the depth, it all lands exactly where it should.

Heated, Emotional, Engaging, and handled with a level of care that made it stand out in a way that lingers.

I loved this audiobook. I found myself emotionally invested and absorbed from the beginning through to the end.

While there are dark elements and themes to Thorne Princess, I thoroughly enjoyed the banter, wit, humour, and verbal sparring of the two main characters in this excellent enemies-to-lovers story with a difference.

Ransom is a bodyguard (the hero/ antihero of the story) assigned to protect Hallie mostly from herself (a pampered, troubled social media princess), but also from murky, shadowy figures who may - or may not - be interested in a former President's daughter.

These two start off resenting each other, but like all good slow burn stories, their mutual attraction and chemistry starts to heat up and eventually boils over!!

This audiobook has some darker elements, some nail-biting tension, and unwelcome jeopardy to really mix up the plot and also made for a compelling and suspenseful read.

I highly recommend this novel to listeners who love highly dramatic romantic novels with a twist. I also enjoyed the narration.
