About this listen

Letting go is not a process that comes naturally to us. In a world that teaches us to cling to what we love at all costs, there is an undeniable art to moving on - and it's one that we are constantly relearning. In this series of honest and poignant essays, Heidi Priebe explores the harsh reality of what it means to let go of the people and situations we love most - often before we are ready to - and how to embrace what comes next.

As someone trying to get over a seven year emotionally abusive relationship with a narcissist this has really helped me. The constant returning of him to the relationship made it hard for me to let go as I loved him so much. He trained me to wait, sometimes for weeks and months. Thankfully the fog started to lift and I knew I was worth more, and the future I had in my mind was just an illusion which could never be.
I will read this whenever I am struggling.

Loved it!

Whether the letting go was a moment ago or a decade ago, this short book resonates. It has an intimacy of form that is both personal and the story of another.
Initially, I was struck by its very short length, somehow transplanting this for a part finished, light read/listen. It is neither. It has a completeness that lets the end of the book feel natural, though not desired. Somehow, I wanted to read more, simply due to the beauty of the language, the way it transform you back Sadness, anger, anchor-less, ripped away from a most favoured, it is inevitably revisiting a more brutal part of your own life and it has a voice, an expression. I have read it again and again, electing to buy it in both audible and book format.
The way the book moves through the realisation of loss to the angst of a loss and the final resolution, if there ever is any, of losing a relationship. I really cannot commend this book enough. I haven’t read anything like it before and despite looking, nothing else seems to be comparable in its intimacy of writing. Whether you decide to leave or are left, this book really does offer a controlled, yet emotional framework to see the process of losing.
I think it is fair to say that this is probably my most favoured book of this year.

This is a tremendously moving and personal set of essays and thoughts about letting go of those we love and what we love. Heidi is a philosopher and a great writer. Optimistic and insightful, and really rather moving and profound. Thank you.

Beautifully written, cathartic and moving
