About this listen

The miller's son Raffael earns his living through various swindles and scams — always careful not to lose a hand or head. For only the punishments for theft are harsher than life itself. An enchanted map, his faithful horse Diego, and his tame earthworm Borsti accompany him on his adventures. The old mercenary Brocken is considered a living legend since being the only warrior to survive the great battle in the Mist Moor. His grumpiness is surpassed only by his nastiness. A white raven flies over this wall of world-hatred and triggers a chain of wondrous events. Coincidence or providence? Thief and mercenary could hardly be more different. Yet both carry a secret within them that is also the reason why their paths cross in a fateful journey.

A good story with a few little twists but absolutely made by the narrator (although had to speed him up to 1.2). Look forward to the next book

Think of it as a epic story (spoiler the ending makes it clear that more books are to come). Having said that, it moves at pace and has lots of plot points and different story arcs to keep you with it. I get bored very fast and often ditch slow stories… I was gripped throughout.

Not so much fantasy but lovers of fantasy history battle stories will love it.. very medieval in tone.

Enjoy

Narration is wonderful

Sam Feuerbach is a master of storytelling, suspense and humour. I found myself regularly snorting, shrieking and sighing whilst listening to this. Such a talented author and wonderful narration too. You are in for a treat!
