If your mum vanished on Bonfire Night, how far would you go to find the truth?

Tim Shaw is about to find out.

And nothing could have prepared him for where the truth leads, into a world where The Da Vinci Code meets Stranger Things, and the monsters are very, very real.

When Tim is pulled 300 years into the past, he finds himself in the shadowy streets of Cambridge, drawn into a centuries-old mystery and hunted by the DECEIVERS, ancient creatures that hide behind human faces.

A city of secrets and hidden histories, where nothing is quite what it seems and danger waits around every corner.

Guided by strange dreams and joined by Gemma Bowen, his sharp-witted art club tutor, Tim must follow a trail of hidden clues deeper into the city's darkest secrets, with the DECEIVERS closing in at every turn.

But the deeper they go, the clearer it becomes that this is about far more than one missing mother.

The truth has been buried for centuries.

And the DECEIVERS will stop at nothing to make sure the truth stays buried.

The Secret on the Second Shelf is a supernatural mystery for listeners aged 8 and upwards, and for every adult who never quite grew out of a great adventure story.

Some secrets, once uncovered, cannot be forgotten.

And some creatures, once seen, cannot be unseen.

Brought to life by SOVAS Voice Arts Award recognised narrator David Sweeney-Bear, whose exceptional range of character voices draws you deeper into the mystery with every chapter.

One of Britain's most prolific audiobook narrators, David delivers a performance that is gripping, chilling and deeply compelling from start to finish.

A story that begins on Bonfire Night and burns long after the flames go out.

Entertaining from the off with plenty of crazy imagination plots and gadgets such as the Kaleidoscope that melts away having been given by a man in a Tv!! The soft horror element is intriguing and I'm sure youngsters will love it. The relationship with Gemma is sweet and Tim is a magnet for trouble and adventure such as the drug thugs he has a run in with. An enjoyable listen that I really can see on a tv screen.

This book screams tv series.
