About this listen

When a Republican party wins the General Election, they strip the royal family of everything and send them to live on a housing estate in the Midlands.

Exchanging caviar for boiled eggs, servants for a social worker named Trish, the Queen and her family learn what it means to be poor among the great unwashed. Is their breeding sufficient to allow them to rise above their changed circumstance or deep down are they really just like everyone else?

An enjoyable listen overall. Some clever ideas although a lot of stereotyping of different groups. I expected a different ending.

Enjoyable escapism

Loved all of it. it's a sweet story, really nicely read. Laugh out loud funny at times, strangely relevant to the world we live in today.

Lovely book, funny and gentle and good fun

I love Sue Townsends sense of humour and have read all of the Adrian Mole series several times. This was a refreshing change for me and did not disappoint. The authors wit and observational skills are unsurpassable and equate to a very enjoyable read. I loved it all. Indeed there were several times I laughed out loud. Read and enjoy.

It kept me amused.
