I just married the hockey league’s hottest player. Only catch? He has no idea.

I never meant to hitch Ken Edwards. OK. I totally did. I just wasn’t planning on him finding out.

It was a desperate move to save my restaurant, but now he’s onto me and refusing to play along. Between his scorching looks and my traitorous hormones, keeping things strictly business is like trying to diet in a chocolate factory.

My only game plan? Don't melt into a puddle of lust. Spoiler alert: I'm failing spectacularly.

I thought I was playing it safe. Instead, I'm risking it all: my business, my future, and my heart...

It took some time for me to get used to the narrator. It was distracting from the story. There are some inconsistencies in the story line. However, this is a fun and entertaining listen. I will definitely come back to this author! 🎧 🐰

Loved the narration of Shane Martinez

Charlie has lived next door to twin brothers Kali and Ken. Both twins are completely different, Kali shares Charlie's passion of ballet and Ken is a hockey player. The night before Charlie is about to start her dream of being a dancer Ken confesses his love and Charlie has an accident and breaks her ankle, ending her dream. Blaming Ken and resenting him. Ten years later she need a favour from him to secure a loan. She needs a fake husband and gets him to agree to a marriage of convenience.
Problem is the chemistry is not fake.

Great characters, chemistry, angst, drama and heat.

The Pucking Fake Marriage is a fascinating story that evoked a powerful reaction from me. Main characters Ken and Charlie are dynamic, and I love that we get a glimpse of their childhood reality at the beginning of the story. Fast forward to present day, where Charlie is a bitter, selfish, self-centered woman with terrible self-esteem and very few redeeming qualities. Even understanding why she is that way, since we continue to see sprinkles of how her parents and Ken’s family treat her, I still never came around to liking her. Both of their families treated Ken just as poorly, and yet he chose to take that and become the best hockey player he could be. It was really hard watching Ken get his heart stomped on by Charlie when they were teens, and her repeatedly doing it to him now is just wow. Ken, ever the good book boyfriend, continues to support her dreams even after he finds out that she lied to him repeatedly and manipulated him over and over again. Her behavior is reprehensible; there’s just no excuse. And when everything comes to a head the explosion is massive. I love that Ken continues to stand up for her, and I loved it best when he finally stands up for himself. And the ending? It’s epic!

Shane Martinez did an excellent job performing the various roles in this novel. I love how she really gets into each character; the emotions, action, suspense, and drama ooze out of the speakers. I was sucked into this world and even though I didn’t like Charlie at all I just couldn’t stop listening until the very end—the hallmark for me of a great story is when I have a powerful reaction and I can’t put it down. This novel offered both of those to me.

I had a super powerful reaction to this one
