PRAISE FOR THE PILGRIM'S REVENGE:
Fast paced, deeply immersive, The Pilgrim's Revenge is a belter of a novel . . . [Scott Mariani] shows his deep knowledge of the period in this excellent read. A read-to-the-end page turner, this is historical fiction as it should be written
Two of my favourite things have come together - Scott Mariani's masterful storytelling and the medieval world. Meticulously researched and skilfully brought to life, The Pilgrim's Revenge is an action-packed, roller coaster ride. The gripping, and at times agonising, adventures of Will the Bowman have only just begun - and I'm hooked!
Classic storytelling on an epic scale
Fast-paced, exhilarating . . . Punctuated by bloody battles, exquisite swordplay and a thrilling storyline, the action is relentless . . . The research is exemplary . . . Will Bowman is a character I look forward to hearing much more about
PRAISE FOR SCOTT MARIANI:
James Bond meets Jason Bourne meets The Da Vinci Code
Compelling from the first page until the last . . . will have you turning the pages well into the night
Thrilling. Scott Mariani is at the top of his game
Non-stop action - this book delivers
If you've got a pulse, you'll love Scott Mariani
An awesome writer
Mariani has clearly researched the late 12th century in some detail - and delivers a gripping tale

I couldn't stop listening. Reader was a good choice and articulated well. Story was really interesting and well researched. The book covers a lot of story without feeling rushed. I'll be checking Marianis other books as well!

Captivating story

Good deal of background information on medieval facts and historical references very helpful in understanding the era and the way of life at the time

I'm a long standing fan of the Ben Hope series, eagerly awaiting each new release & even enjoyed Scott's brief foray into the vampire world quite some years ago. I'm relatively new to Audible & have enjoyed the narration of Colin Mace. And so to Will Bowman's tale .... this is not a genre I would ever usually choose. The story was interesting and full to bursting with historical detail (daily life, political & religious events & motivations etc). Whilst it was easy to visualise, I didn't "live in the story" as easily as modern day Ben Hope adventures. This could be, in part, due to the narrator. He has a very pleasant style, a wide range of accents for the different characters, no mispronunciations or annoying inflections. However, as another review stated, he has no change in pace or style for the exciting or perilous stages of the story. I never held my breath, waiting for the outcome of a tricky situation and I think this prevented me becoming as invested in Will's adventure as I would have expected. In summary, the book was enjoyable but not compelling - I'll try the next one but I'm not counting the days till it's released.

Certainly a change in direction

I was hoping for more Ben Hope, and it's a similar thread, but set in the 1100's.

Its a decent enough story and read very well by the narrator. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think Scott will enjoy the same success with this new series as the Ben Hope stories. I for one, would like Ben Hope to make a come back. I used to wait with anticipation for the new one every six ish months.

Good luck Scott, I wish you all the very best with Will Bowman. He's a good character with some more adventures ahead I'm sure.

Enjoyable but it's not Ben Hope
