About this listen

Few outside the security services have heard of 14 Company. As deadly as the SAS yet more secret, the operators of 14 Company are Britain's most effective weapon against international terrorism. For every bomb that goes off, 14 Company prevent 12. The selection process is the most physically, intellectually, and emotionally demanding anywhere in the world. This is the true story of one operator and of some of the most hair-raising military operations ever conducted on the streets of Britain.

Really enjoyed this book apart from the photography section which was too technical. Fascinating insight with great detail and very human touches.

However, I’m afraid that the narration almost spoilt it especially in the first half. Accents changed mid sentence, pronunciation was regularly distracting - I’m sure a more suitable narrator could have been found. I was close to giving up because of it.

Great but change the narrator

Good book, well written. Even though I am ex army, I'd never even heard of this unit.

I wasn't overly keen on the narrator and how he would mispronounce words

Good book, well written.

The story itself is very good, interesting and well written. Unfortunately I could only listen in small doses. I found the narrators voice irritating. His frequent change of accent, often within the same sentence, became particularly irksome. I bought the book rather than finish the audible because even though the story was good I couldn’t listen any more

Good story annoying narrator

Interesting content and very interesting but the awful narration and horrendous attempt at accents, incorrect pronunciation of words and just very lacklustre for a great story, bought the book to read it correctly

Awful narration

Some of the accents used during the recital were ridiculous and offputting. Either get someone with the correct accent to speak the part or just read it in the narrators true accent.
