Magical dystopian tale

Spoiler alert! That poor girl!! What she had to go through!! I felt all her fears, anger, hurt, upsets, sadness and betrayals with her. I have binge read this book in two days. My husband wasn’t getting any sense out of me. I was totally immersed in the story and couldn’t put it down. Note I have to find book two!! A really good book.

High quality production with single narration Isles presents a standout performance with such an expressive voice she adds emphasis, pause and volume to truely perform each role. Despite this, an epic tale such as this would have been elevated further by duet narration. Her speaking pacing is rather slow but you can easily speed it up for greater enjoyment

I love dystopian worlds and magic so adding them together is a book made in heaven. I really wish the story had been told in first person rather than third.

Floating cities for the elite, a gritty underworld for the poor, fast-paced, action-packed listen really hard to press pause. The world-building was phenomenal, immersive, and so vividly described that it played as a movie behind my eyes.

Megan was a strong brave and intriguing character. I absolutely loved the journey she takes in this story. The magic system was unique and added so much depth. Full of betrayals and shocking twists

Right from the beginning I was completely intrigued by the plot and the characters. I enjoyed trying to piece things together, and watching it all unfold. At times I thought I had it figured out, but man was I wrong!

While there are two love interests romance is no where near the main focus of the story, so we didn’t get to explore the relationships too much! Which was a shame I would have loved more space given to this subplot
