About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

THE SECOND NOVEL IN THE RECORD-BREAKING, MILLION-COPY BESTSELLING THURSDAY MURDER CLUB SERIES.

It's the following Thursday.

Elizabeth has received a letter from an old colleague, a man with whom she has a long history. He's made a big mistake, and he needs her help. His story involves stolen diamonds, a violent mobster, and a very real threat to his life.

As bodies start piling up, Elizabeth enlists Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron in the hunt for a ruthless murderer. And if they find the diamonds too? Well, wouldn't that be a bonus?

But this time they are up against an enemy who wouldn't bat an eyelid at knocking off four septuagenarians.

Can the Thursday Murder Club find the killer (and the diamonds) before the killer finds them?

'Moving, hilarious, brilliantly suspenseful'
Jeffery Deaver
'A thing of joy' Kate Atkinson
'The tonic we all need' Shari Lapena

Really loved this book. The characters are so well developed and their personalities really come through. Joyce is a delight, she really makes me laugh. A good mystery with twists and turns but light and easy to listen to. Lesley Manville does a wonderful job.

Great sequel

There’s a lot more going on than your average crime fiction novel. I see that some reviews find the subplot wittering annoying. Listen, if you’ve read the first book then you know what’s coming.
A charming and disarming story with all your favourite characters from book 1. I loved it and can’t wait for the next one.

A great sequel

It was great fun finishing The Thursday Murder Club and jumping straight back in to the world of Joyce, Elizabeth and the gang. The characterisation is developed further as you would hope, especially that of Ibrahim who has his challenges in this second book. The contrast between the two ladies (as that's what they definitely are) is beautifully portrayed and both hold their own majestically through the twists and turns of the plot...Joyce is becoming an excellent spy in her own right! There are many laugh out loud moments with some lovely turns of phrase..."one shouldn't honk at the mafia" will stay with me. Lesley Manville is a great asset to this audiobook as she was in the previous one. Her portrayal of all the characters is entertaining and she makes for a compelling narrator. Over to you Richard to crack on with Book 3 as I'm more than a little keen to see where this quartet are headed. Highly recommended but do read the first novel prior to starting this one.

A sequel to rival the 5 star first novel

This is simply perfect. The only thing I’ve ever read or listened to that describes contentment and joy in old age.

Every character is a joy - the voices of Bogdan and Imran, minor compared to Joyce and Elizabeth - are remarkable.

Love Joyce’s Cumberbatch-Sherlock levels of observation all in a variety of knitted cardigans.

Impossible to regret listening to this. So happy for Donna.

Another fantastic TMC, fantastic story, brilliant characters and wonderful narration. I pre ordered book 3 as soon as I'd finished listening. Thanks Richard and Lesley what joy these are.
