I read all sorts of books. If a plotline grabs me then I will buy the book and take a gamble and this is what happened with this book. What a wonderful surprise. This is a book that is fun. You believe in the characters. The main character is fantastic and you really do go through it with her as the book goes through several plots to is turns this not heavy book. This is a fun holiday read no mention of the pandemic masks is just a wonderful book to dive into and I shall really look forward to this authors novel.

The narration is excellent and I found the book very difficult to put down. The voices were convincing and it was a pleasure to listen to. If, as a reader erratically send a new want to take a gamble on a new author you will not be disappointed with this new book. It says in the blurb that this is being made into a movie. I myself will look forward to seeing this on the big screen and I can see why this was snapped up by a network. It's a great fun story and I really enjoyed it.

After reading this book. Whenever you stay in a hotel, this book will always bring to mind. I won't ruin the story, but trust me, you will think twice before you leave your room knowing a maid is coming to tidy up!

I will never look at hotel maid the same way again

I really enjoyed the opening chapters. It felt a little different and fresh. However the longer it went on the more predictable it became and sadly I didn’t believe the character any more. I think the change came when it moved into amateur detective mode and I just didn’t believe the Molly I had come to know would be able to do some of the things she did. Some stereotypical characters who were just one dimensional. I just wanted it to finish by the last quarter of the book.

I loved the narration however, hence the 5 stars. Lauren Ambrose was one of the reasons I stuck with it until the end.

It didn’t live up to the hype sadly. Great start and a case of what might have been, I think.

Enjoyable start but sadly drifted away

The story becomes increasingly implausible
As it goes on. The book should have been a lot shorter, but is an ok-ish read. But it won’t set the world alight.

The portrayal of the way molly looks at the world is done very well and I would imagine that is why the book has received so much praise.
The narration is first class.
But the story is not so great. I’m in 2 minds whether to recommend or not. It’s not a total waste of time and I did finish it - but the plot did not hold enough for me.

Also I found the sad bits far too sad. Although the story is not so good- the sad bits got me worried about molly like she is real.

This is ok but peaks at the beginning

No dislikes - enjoyed the language used as written and the narration most of all … story line weak in places but it wrapped up well and we still had questions as we went into epilogue. You can start guessing what’s happening early in the story but you’ll probably be wrong! Kept me guessing like that the end. I was sent up and down into thinking I knew - to - no I didn’t know …

Not my usual cup of tea but after the first 10 minutes I was captured. Wonderful characters. Intriguing story. Can’t wait to get the next in series.

An unexpected gem
