Late one night Danny Walters tucks his young son back into bed. He realizes the carpet is soaking wet just as he sees a man standing at the bottom of the stairs. The man lights a match. The house goes up in flames.

The next day, Detectives Tanzy and Byrd witness a horrific video posted online. Someone stood in the back garden filming as Danny and his whole family burned alive.

Across town, four women wake up in a dark, cold room. Every time they fall asleep, one of them is taken. People on the internet are paying good money to watch what happens to them.

Then Tanzy and Byrd get a sickening call. There's an unconscious woman balanced right on the edge of her fourth-floor balcony. Someone drugged her and put her up there. The detectives race to the scene, just as the woman's phone rings, waking her. She panics...

Great narration as usual. The story was okay but I didn’t connect with the characters enough to care.

Story was okay but previous ones have been better

This is the third in the series and I have to admit they are quite gripping. However, the themes are repetitive and surprises are not quite so surprising as you might hope. Especially by the time you get to book 3.

This is also a book which is full of mention of doors - especially double doors. Once I started noticing I couldn’t stop!

And I kept having to remember we were talking about Byrd and Tanzy, not Bert and Tansy.

Finally I don’t think the Darlington police run a very efficient investigation. They don’t do basic thinking. But suffer a large number of head injuries. Maybe the two are related.

However I have listened to the end of all three books, which I don’t always manage.

A lot of doors

This is the 3rd book in the series and a great listen/read. I love how it is set in Darlington and mentions streets and local land marks that I can relate to. Perfect narration an overall fab book. Let’s hope there’s a number 4 soon! ❤️

Fantastic listen!

This is the first audio book I've listened to by this author and I enjoyed it very much. So much action and suspense. Well narrated.

Very Good
