About this listen

It's 1925, and Patricia, Tara and Aideen couldn't be more excited to be starting a new life in Liverpool. Yet it soon becomes clear that all is not as it seems, for the girls are hastily swept onto a huge ocean liner heading to New York. When their father vanishes midway across the Atlantic, the grieving sisters prepare themselves for a new life in the big city. For whatever their father was running from has every chance of catching up with them....

What a charming story, I was completely swept away in the lives of this lovely family in those most interesting of times. Truly magical.

Story starts great and has some good highlights but not as good in second half plus ends very abruptly. A bit disappointing and not as good as other Maureen Lee books.

A little disappointing.

Mmmm. It could actually have been a decent yarn but for the severe lack of eloquence. It sounded more like a news bulletin .. stated facts, starved of emotion. The narrator didn’t help much; she sounded bored and just as starved of emotion as the story itself. Pity really. Cut out the unnecessary and tedious descriptions of the fancy restaurants/coffee shops/diners/clothes/designer labels etc and add some emotion or a bit of oomph to the horrific rape, attack and murder scenes, some romance to the love interests and a bit of drama to the deaths.

Well this is strange one
