An aspiring, hobby writer comes across an interesting, inspiring manuscript he admires and considers adopting as his own. His wife is also a writer and keen for him to read her first novel. Set in the days of typewriters and paper drafts, a misunderstanding means, when he caves to her moral pressure, he sends her manuscript to who he thought was the author. His efforts to reverse this mistake reveal the malign nature of the manuscript and the effect on people who have possessed it. It becomes difficult to disentangle fact from fiction and characters come to life, writing their own stories and demoting the author. I liked the subversive tone and the irony of me reading this book - which doesn't exist.

The narrator was a good voice actor adding emotion and mood to the text.
