An ode to female friendship and girlhood, this is a bestselling* debut, perfect for fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

Nel, Flo, Maggie and Nicole haven’t been friends for years. Caught in the limbo summer between college and uni, each of the girls are at a precipice, deciding the direction of the rest of their lives. That’s when the notifications come through. They'd forgotten all about the time-capsule text messages they sent each other two years ago. Messages full of confessions, feelings and secrets that force them back together again . . . before they break apart.

  • A heartfelt coming-of-age story about four best friends dealing with body image, sexuality, romance, the warning signs of unhealthy relationships and one life-altering medical crisis
  • G. Forsyth Read is one half of the dynamic duo, Ally & G – hosts of the social series Backseat Driver, and the Leave a Message podcast

Critic reviews

"Texts We Never Sent so perfectly captures the beauty and chaos of growing up, stretching your wings and discovering yourself. This book is everything I’ve always known my brilliant G was capable of - tender, perceptive and quietly profound. Her characters feel like little sisters you can’t help but root for as they each navigate love, change and growing pains. With her own empathy and insight woven into every page, this book is so unmistakably her, and I feel incredibly lucky to know the person behind it."

(Ally Mackintosh)

"Thoughtful, funny and truly precious. No matter how you've felt in a friendship, you'll find something in this book that sees and understands you"

(Sophie Jo, author of Red Flags)

Firstly, excuse the name of the reviewer, this is actually a 23 year old girl (yes i still use my Dad's Amazon), not a 60 year old. The book was such a lovely read, it tackled real challenges we all face with growing up, such as body confidence and relationships, but also delved into deeper issues, which many, unfortunatley, can relate to. It was such a lovely story of the power of women and the importance of friendship, teaching us the valuable lesson that girls must stick together. I'm not much of reader but I finished the book in less than 3 days, whilst working a full time job, I really could not put it down. It was read so beautifully, and I loved the accents; will definietly be a comforting book I return to.. Side note, I have followed both Ally and G for a while now, and depsite obviously not knowing either personally, I feel really proud of you G for writing such a lovely book. Please write another!

Such a lovely read!
