SSIAW is one of my favourite web novels, now audio books, with a main character with suppressed emotions, but still ultimately human, with the heart of a hero, and acts like a father to his men. the MC clashes and contrasts well with the fantasy natives of ahkoolis, with their personalities and primitive/supernatural nature challenging his previous genres materialist understanding of the world.

You have a legally distinct warhammer Space Marine with the backstory of the Master Chief, running around the fantasy world, possessing a huge wall protecting humans and other species from the plague of what seems to be undeath. With the big, terrifying guy leading them, all the while there is some sort of Highlander-esque tournament going on in the background.

Also the male narrator sounds like a drunk sometimes for no reason.
