Summary

Audiobook 7 in the Dawn of Fire Series

Fleet Secundus marches toward the Eye of Terror, ready to strike at the heart of the Archenemy. However, a battle for survival awaits as the greater schemes of the Indomitus Crusade descend into treachery and intrigue.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

It's a jaw-dropping entry in the Dawn of Fire series, as the Indomitus Crusade prepares to take the fight to the heart of Abaddon's warpsworn empire.

THE STORY

The mighty fleets of the Indomitus Crusade face terrors and dangers beyond imagining. As Guilliman's crusade marches forth, bringing the Emperor's light to thousands of worlds, Fleet Secundus is headed for the darkest dark – the Eye of Terror itself.

Along with warriors of the Adepta Sororitas and the Adeptus Astartes, the Imperial Navy battle cruiser Judgement of the Void pushes deeper into contested space. But as their journey unfolds, the forces of Chaos close in, and a battle for survival is about to begin – one which has ramifications not just for Fleet Secundus, but for the future of the galaxy itself.

I really enjoyed this book. Often 40k novels turn into an epic on a large scale, but this was a nice change of pace. Recommend!

Great story on a small scale

It's a good filler story giving more insight into a more subtle ways chaos deals with the even those most suited to fight it. Unfortunately the plot becomes extremely predictable very early on and getting to the end of it, through one grimdark cliche after another, is bit of a slog.

Heresy!

well written and performed if a little slow to start. I did enjoy the horror take on a 40k story, like most of the other recent dawn of fire books it doesn't actually move the Indomitus story along, it is one of the best in the dawn of fire series tho

Warhammer does Event Horizon

Chris Wraight is one of Black Library's best authors, but I was still caught off guard by how gripping a tale he spun here. The first few chapters are spent establishing the status quo aboard a ship, introducing you to all the major players and how they all work together, before events take the inevitable turn for the worse, The main body of the book is the crew struggling to hold everything together and to survive in spite of the odds being stacked against them, the lack of information and ever growing uncertainty that stems from it.

The only possible complaint I could think of is that it's pretty much a stand alone novel rather than being closely tied to the major players of the Dawn of Fire series, but in my opion that's when 40k fiction is at its best.

A captivating story, best experienced blind.

It was a slow burn and the majority of the chapters were a drag.
