About this listen

Movie-making can be murder, in this cleverly plotted high-concept thriller from the #1 bestselling author of The Nothing Man and 56 Days.

The project.

Final Draft, a psychological horror, being filmed at a house deep in a forest, miles from anywhere in the wintry wilds of West Cork.

The lead.

Former soap-star Adele Rafferty has stepped in to replace the original actress at the very last minute. She can’t help but hope that this opportunity will be her big break—and she knows she was lucky to get it, after what happened the last time she was on a set.

The problem.

Something isn’t quite right about Final Draft. When the strange goings-on in the script start to happen on set too, Adele begins to fear that the real horror lies off the page....

Advice to other listeners: This needs to be read in one sitting as so very complicated and far too long. I really tried to keep up but as I listened over several days (I really did want to know what was going on) I kept losing the plot. Needed to go back more than once and still found myself puzzled - so beware!!!

Reasonable story ruined by over complication

from the start I enjoyed its plot, the twists and turns, the suspicion, suspense and denouement. at the end I was sorry to have come to the end with that 'what will I follow this with?' feeling. Im not sure whether I will ever read it again as part of its pleasure was in the not knowing who or why element.

enjoyed this one

Have read all Catherines books but this was just not enjoyable.I stuck it out to the end but couldn't care less what happened.Too many side plots going on.

Not for me.

The prose was unnecessarily over-descriptive in parts but I enjoyed the novel overall. I would recommend it as it is an unusual thriller premise.

Fairly enjoyable.

Unfortunately this just didn’t enjoy this - kept waiting for it to grip me but it didn’t. I genuinely don’t like giving poor reviews but just felt I’d like an honest review if I was looking for something.
