About this listen

What begins as a blissful ladies’ spa day meant for rest and renewal turns deadly when a striking young model is found murdered in the parking lot. Amateur sleuth Stacie Maroni is the one who discovers the body, notifies the police, and studies the woman and her jewelry. A bit obsessive about things matching, Stacie wonders at the silver earring mixed with everything else gold. Little does she know someone nearby is filming her. As rumors swirl and clues surface, Stacie notices unsettling details: two men of average build, both wearing dark wedding bands, and threats against her and Jasper—someone believes she has something worth killing for.

With a brash, womanizing FBI agent jumping to dangerous conclusions and pressure mounting from all sides, Stacie finds herself pulled deeper into a mystery she never intended to solve. As tensions rise and threats close in, she must rely on her instincts and her friends to uncover the truth before the killer strikes again or the FBI agent arrests her for the murder. In this seemingly cozy town, even with her police connections, danger lurks around every corner.

I enjoyed this book. This is book twelve in this series and the characters and there friendship just grow from strength to strength. Don't worry if this is your first time joining the characters because each book works as a standalone with each case getting wrapped up. The friendships are even more apparent in this book as Stacie comes under suspicion of being the killer, when the FBI rolls into town and takes over the case. This leads to an interesting mystery as everybody has to investigate on the down low. The story takes a number of twists and is not quite what it seems but it stayed interesting the entire time. Looking forward to the next book.

The relaxed and rested mood is shattered when Stacie and her friends leave the spar only discover a dead body in the car park. Stacie is filmed standing over the body waiting for the police to arrive and her troubles start when the film is released to the media. She becomes a person of interest not only for the FBI who roll in and take over when the victim is identified as being an informant but also for the killer. With Stacie's identity leaked on the internet, the threats and break in's has her retreating to safety and taking up a disguise. Unable to return to work with the FBI hounding her and her friends there and the killer also knowing where she works, she has plenty of time to investigate. Can she help solve another murder before she is arrested or killed?
I like the narrator. You can always rely on her to put in a good performance.
