The Emperor is enraged. Primarch Magnus the Red of the Thousand Sons Legion has made a terrible mistake that endangers the very safety of Terra. With no other choice, the Emperor charges Leman Russ, Primarch of the Space Wolves, with the apprehension of his brother from the Thousand Sons home world of Prospero.

This planet of sorcerers will not be easy to overcome, but Russ and his Space Wolves are not easily deterred. With wrath in his heart, Russ is determined to bring Magnus to justice and bring about the fall of Prospero.

I feel that this was over hyped - while the fluff content was great, there wasn't enough detail during the route of prospero to dictate such a lofty reputation.

over hyped?

Slow start to a great climax. Really liked the last 6 hours. First section a bit slow but still enjoyable.

I find the title and cover art of this book to be quite misleading as 3/4 of the book really don't feature anything to do with Prospero and sadly I'd gone into this with the preconception that this was going to follow on from the previous title 'Thousand Sons'. This however, did not sour my experience as I still enjoyed learning more of Space Wolf lore.

I had found myself really having to listen intently to this book as it seemed to jump between past, present and future tenses quite subtly and often found myself consigning to the fact that I just wasn't really understanding what was happening until it made more sense later on in the book, so pay attention!

If you're looking to only listen to key plot points of the Horus Heresy, this can easily be skipped as I feel like this is just a nice side addition for the main dish that was already 'Thousand Sons'. Space Wolf fans will love it though.

Leave preconceptions at the door!

All I need say is I am a strong thousand sons fan and even I enjoyed this book because with all the differing perspectives from VIth legion to the XVth in their books you can always understand the others reasons, even the thousand sons in this book when they do suspicious stuff you always think "this doesn't feel right, something is off" and it's all paid off from this book and the Prospero series as a whole :)

Highly recommend.
