I just can't imagine me without you....

It's the mid-1990s, and 15-year-old Guernsey schoolgirls Renée and Flo are not really meant to be friends.

Thoughtful, introspective and studious Flo couldn't be more different to ambitious, extroverted and sexually curious Renée. But Renée and Flo are united by loneliness and their dysfunctional families, and an intense bond is formed.

Although there are obstacles to their friendship (namely Flo's jealous ex-best friend and Renée's growing infatuation with Flo's brother), 15 is an age where anything can happen, where life stretches out before you and when every betrayal feels like the end of the world.

For Renée and Flo it is the time of their lives.

At first I thought this book is not for me and wondered if I had mistakenly chosen a book for teenagers. But after a short while I really got into it and found it enjoyable. it reminded me of all the awkwardness of being a teenager and friendships and boys. It is a great book and the narrators voice is very easy to listen to.

Brought back memories of school and teenage angst

Oh god this book brings memories as early teen hood and trying to navigate through family drama, hormones , puberty, boys , friendships, boobs and public hair…
Wonderfully written and beautifully narrated

Ive cried a number of times reading this. Just brilliant. Her use of language is fantastic and felt great emotion for these characters.

I have told everyone to read it. I couldnt put it down!

The book does contain swearing and sex, but it is context of the story

A Must Read

Nicely paced and excellently performed take of teenage angst and growing up. Lot of serious issues addressed in here but done with a lightness of touch and with genuine humour. Enjoyed it!

Enjoyable tale of growing up
