"FASCINATING . . . MEMORABLE . . . REVEALING . . . PERHAPS THE BEST OF CARL SAGAN''S BOOKS." --The Washington Post Book World (front page review)

In Cosmos, the late astronomer Carl Sagan cast his gaze over the magnificent mystery of the Universe and made it accessible to millions of people around the world. Now in this stunning sequel, Carl Sagan completes his revolutionary journey through space and time.

Future generations will look back on our epoch as the time when the human race finally broke into a radically new frontier--space. In Pale Blue Dot Sagan traces the spellbinding history of our launch into the cosmos and assesses the future that looms before us as we move out into our own solar system and on to distant galaxies beyond. The exploration and eventual settlement of other worlds is neither a fantasy nor luxury, insists Sagan, but rather a necessary condition for the survival of the human race.

"TAKES READERS FAR BEYOND Cosmos . . . Sagan sees humanity''s future in the stars." --Chicago Tribune

Adored the subject... unfortunately I'm going to have to resort to hardback ( no hardship). The voice of the narrator is unbearable for me. If you listen to the sample of Cosmos, and find no issue with the tone of voice and sentence delivery of the individual, then go for it. If, on the other hand you are unable to appreciate the narrators voice and style, think on as it does affect the enjoyment of this book and i had to give up on chapter 10. Personal taste of course, no reflection on content.

The voice is important!

This is a wonderful book, very fascinating. The narration starts well with Carl Sagan but switches approximately a quarter of the way through to Ann. She reads the text in a simpering, gushing and whispery fashion, which I did not like. Maybe that’s just me so a bit of a disappointing listen, but still a great book.

Ann Druyan's voice is a little nauseating

I thought Carl Sagan was a “fringe” scientist. Maybe he was or wasn’t, this book certainly isn’t of that genre. It very beginners science for much of the book. However, it does technical later on. It’s both interesting and yet, labouring as well as Carl Sagan does go on a bit.

The book is old; whilst the data here is still relevant, there’s nothing up to date beyond the millennium (first 19 years).

It’s a shame-not all the tapes were recoverable as Andrian’s voice is most definitely grating

Not a bad book book, long winded and mainstream in its cosmologic science but much of it very interesting.

Mainstream science long winded but thoughtful

Mind you: 90% of this book is read by Ann Druyan. Even though the sample is by Carl Sagan and he is mentioned first as narrator.

Misleading about the narrator.

Wonderful thought provoking book.

Since I was a young teenager I've been a fan of Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan's partnership in producing wonderful works promoting science, and "baloney detection kits".

(If I could whisper this bit of the review I would, but I didn't enjoy Ann Druyan's narration unfortunately)

Superb Content.. dissappointed with narration
