Loved it all - super action and gritty dialogue. Super performance by the reader -
Never over the top but each accent felt authentic.

Pacy, at times amusing. Loved the reader’s different accents!

Looking at an alternate universe like this fella terribly accurate. Despite huge shifts in history, people would still be people. I like this recontextualising of our world through different lenses. My usual genre is science fiction and fantasy, and this book has been a revelation of different ways of doing it.

Plus it's a good story!

People are people, no matter what

I hadn’t seen or heard anything of this book but was recommended it and thought it was brilliant. Clever way of looking at an alternate reality, and grounded enough in the real that the police procedural stuff was believable. The writing wasn’t annoying, not too much exposition. Great narration, too. Would make a brilliant tv series.

Surprisingly excellent

Really loved everything about this story, character depth, humour, relationships, twists and turns, for me it really has it all!

I hope there is a sequel to come - can't wait to forget the story so I can read it again!!

Fascinating alternate reality!

Reminded me a bit of that film Red Heat but much much more compellingly told. uses it's intriguing alternative history setting to make amusing and clever observations and comparisons to real world trends and societal issues. I could barely put it down after I started it.

Gripping story, skillfully performed
