We've won a multi-million-pound house in the Cotswolds. It's a dream come true. But the nightmare is just beginning.

I never won anything until now.

Most days, I'm just getting through — looking after my teenagers, working in a job I don't really like, wishing my husband would notice me once in a while.

Now we're living in a house bigger than my wildest dreams.

The threats start immediately.

The day we move in, the woman next door comes over, with a bottle of red wine. She eyes my husband like he's a succulent piece of meat.

Then I get a message congratulating me... and saying they know about what happened sixteen years ago. The mistake that ruined everything.

And things are about to get even worse.

AN EXHILARATING PSYCHOLOGICAL SUSPENSE WITH TWISTS THAT WILL MAKE YOU GASP.

Perfect for fans of Alice Feeney, Sue Watson, John Marrs, Jane E. James, Shalini Boland and Valerie Keogh.

Wis the Audible Plus catalogue had more like this on a regular basis. Good plot, well narrated, kept me hooked. Just the job!

Love a book with a good ending

I really enjoyed listening to this story, especially as it was a freebie. He held my interest all the way through and was quite a page turner. The narrator was also very good.

Very good

Fiona, the main character, lives a bog-standard life with her two teenage children and her fairly reliable husband, George. They simply plod along until Fiona wins a local radio competition, the prize being a mansion in the Cotswolds with no bills to pay for an entire year.

With high hopes for a fresh start and more family time, Fiona hands in her notice and moves the children to new schools. But once they settle in, things begin to go wrong. What are the chances that her one-time fling lives next door? Fiona prays he will not recognise her, but unfortunately, he tells her, “He never forgets a face.”

From there, the story unfolds through a fairly average plot, best taken with a pinch of salt. It is predictable, leaves loose ends, and feels like a first attempt.

Not one for hard-core crime fiction fans, but great for the beach.

3.75/5

One for the beach.

The plot line, at the beginning, is rather clever. Unfortunately, the storyline deteriorates as it progresses, becoming increasingly & evermore unlikely.

This was a really enjoyable book. Gripping with twists and turns. Even though the main character was flawed (aren’t we all?!), I really liked her and was rooting for her. A great example of how your dream life can become your worst nightmare! The audiobook was really good and I liked the narrator. This is the third book of Jessica’s that I’ve read/listened to and I’ve enjoyed them all.
