About this listen

A gripping and addictive historical cozy murder mystery

Wrapping presents and singing at midnight mass on a frosty night… Lady Swift is determined to enjoy Christmas at home this year, until another body turns up!

Winter 1925. Eleanor and Hugh are decking the halls for their first married Christmas together when butler Clifford arrives with a mysterious telegram. A lucrative case awaits their new detective agency… but in the most remote county in England. The note insists they must be there by midnight to accept the job.

After a snowy journey, they arrive at the tiny hamlet of Yorelow to find their client, Osmund Unwin, dead in the churchyard as midnight mass ends. They realise they are now in the absurd situation of having to solve the murder of their client – who they never met – to solve a case they know nothing about and officially never accepted!

There is very little festive goodwill to go around, as it seems half the village had a grudge against the rich man. Was it one of the Frisham sisters, owners of the tavern and rumoured to be in a love triangle with Unwin? Or perhaps his maid, who never had a nice thing to say about him?

When another body is found in the ruins of the castle overlooking the town, Eleanor is baffled. Clearly there’s more to this nightmare before Christmas than the gang first thought…

A totally gripping historical murder mystery set in an English village at Christmas, perfect for fans of Agatha Christie, T.E. Kinsey and Catherine Coles!

Eleanor and Sheldon celebrate their first ‘married’ Christmas solving another unfortunately ‘found’ murder.
The Byron Detective Agency face twists and turns- another murder (let’s stick to the well used formula) and snow drifts aplenty.
Love the way she talks to herself, Seldon “dashes” it and the ladies manage get there on Christmas Day on trains that in reality probably didn’t run! But then what would fiction be if we didn’t suspend reality sometimes?
I’ve listened to the whole series, this one doesn’t disappoint.

Another Christmas escapade.

This is another light, funny, murder mystery, with Lady Eleanor Swift and Sir Hugh Seldon tuning up only to find their client dead. Deciding to investigate his murder until they can find out what they were actually bothered for. With the ladies turning up to help distract them they slowly start to unveil what is going on. Read brilliantly again by Karen Cass.

Another wonderful escapade with Lady Eleanor Swift and the gang.
This is a really beautifully written and thoroughly researched historical murder mystery thriller series.
The characters are so realistic, I almost feel I should be sending them a Christmas card.
Murder on a Frosty Night is the 24th book in the series, so it’s not surprising that I want to send these characters a Christmas card; at this point, we’ve been through a lot together.
The adventure begins with a long Christmas Eve drive of cashmere cuddles. Followed by a dastardly murder, and a sleuthing journey of discovery, interspersed with winter delights, such as ice-skating on a frozen lake, and eating copious amounts of delicious festive food. There is also an eccentric inventor and a beautiful, enigmatic woman.
The story culminates in a very clever twist, which I didn’t see coming.

A Christmas Indulgence
