I was looking to better understand the realities of hip hop culture from the inside, in this case from someone who didn't have an immediate demand that he be part of it. The story is well told, engaging and highlights some of the deterministic events that reinforce tropes and behaviours even in those who appear to have had a choice and a stable family. Relatively fast paced and dense, but with plenty of emotion, relatability and clear narrative.
