A Warhammer 40,000 Novel
A decorated Lieutenant of the Ultramarines recognises the signs of an imminent Tyranid attack, and launches a desperate counter-offensive to save Regium, a proud Imperial world.
LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE
The Imperium fights for its very existence against a threat unlike any other in the galaxy, and a Tyranid invasion beyond any yet experienced.
THE STORY
'The dream...it is a portent...of the end.'
The fortress world of Regium has a proud history, For millennia, it has endured when others have fallen to ruin and damnation, standing defiant in defence of the Imperium of Man. But now it is shaken. Parasitic plagues run rampant, and Regium's citizens are haunted by dreams of horrific monsters feasting upon their flesh and marrow.
Lieutenant Castamon of the Ultramarines recognises these signs of an impending Tyranid invasion all too well. Rallying his warriors, the battle-hardened veteran launches a strike force to slaughter the xenos in the outer system, before it can reach Regium. But as this new tendril of Hive Fleet Leviathan proves unpredictable and deadly, Castamon and the First Company must harness all their skill, might, and zeal, or face utter annihilation.

The voice actor maybe isnt the best choice for a space marine book being too high pitched and whiney for my taste. would deffinetly love to hear this narrator do some warhammer crime novels though.
The books is fairly uninteresting for the first few hours barring some more body horror/ tryanid mysters bits. The space marine characters are flawd and humanising with good written dialgoue and convincing motivations, theres ultramarines break the mary sue mould space marines find themselves in (ultramarines especially) and their struggles are conveyed beautifully in the second half of this book.
In the second half the book really starts going up afew gears but keeps falling back to side plot characters i didnt really care for (apart from the Gafas Coome characters but mainly because Coome is a funny name). The dread this book made me feel was immense nearing the final 2 hours and if you're a 40k fan but really want the tyranids to win this book might be for you.
Overall i think this was a weak start to the new lore developments and maybe could have been better if this was a second book in the series. But I'm looking foward to seeing where this plot goes in the future.
6/10 - bugs bugs bugs
