About this listen

In addition to strength, steel, and courage, a hero discovers he's in need of a friend, in the first installment of a daring and dangerous fantasy adventure.

When it comes to action and adventure, every hero needs a good sidekick. Holmes has Watson, Batman has Robin, and Daniel has...Orrin. More like brothers than friends, they always have each other's backs. And as Daniel is the big, strong, handsome type, Orrin is more than happy to remain in his shadow at school, at parties, pretty much everywhere.

Then things take a turn for the truly weird when a terrible accident catapults the pair into a world totally unlike their own, in which the rules of a role-playing game hold sway. Naturally, Daniel is classified as a "hero," while Orrin is—also naturally—relegated to the fantasy equivalent of "bleh." Nothing new there.

But in this realm populated with lethal foes both inhuman and inescapable, sticking together matters more than ever, and soon Daniel and Orrin will discover more about themselves—and each other—than either one thought possible. In fact, Orrin just might find the confidence and strength to become something other than your average sidekick....

The first volume of the hit LitRPG fantasy series—with more than 600,000 views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Where to start...
first the bad:
alot of pointless stats. with eeeeverithing! even the manacost of spells and the xp of the spell and how much a upgrade costs. worth it's not only from the MC's but from random passersby too.
Then there is the really bad idea of using a different voice for classes and skills... kills the flow of the story every time.
Next is probably a personal thing but I hate the hypocritical moral highroad MC's. The whole moaning about how wrong it is to kill someone but doing it anyway.
And well the comments about the MC's being smart are not completely wrong but that's the rollercoaster. they do smart things then plot twist and they do stupid things and on it goes... super annoying

The good:
I liked the possibility of the not hero until the plot twist. afterward it was less op but still fun.
And that the not hero is not a complete pushover.

and then I had to stop because the plot twists got to annoying.

The system saying classes and abiltitys instead of the characters themselfs is headache inducing and while i like the premise of the mc not being the most important person that 1 not really true and 2 i dont find any of the characters realatable ,they constantly whine and complain about there postition and the fact that there in this new world but consistantly fail to plan ahead and trust people they know they shouldnt and maybe its just because i have read so many storys at this point but i consistantly see whats about to happen and since the mc aparently has played tons of games and watch anime etc i feel like he should also be able to see most of these things .

HERO!HERO!HERO!

Great story and great narration. Not sure about the emphasis on the skill titles, but I got used to it.

Can’t wait for the next one!
