About this listen

An unputdownable psychological thriller with an edge-of-your-seat twist

She has everything to lose…

Opening the door, I kiss my handsome man and smile as the children run into the home I’ve spent all day making perfect. I still can’t believe that I’m living in this warm, safe place that’s filled with laughter. But I’m always looking over my shoulder because I know that my gorgeous family could be taken away from me in a heartbeat.

Because one woman has every reason to try and destroy me.

She’s watching and waiting for me to mess up. But I know what it’s like to have nothing and I’m determined not to let anyone come between me and the dream life I’ve worked so hard for.

Even if this family belonged to her first…

From number one bestselling author and the king of jaw-dropping twists, I Stole Your Family is an addictive and gripping psychological thriller by Daniel Hurst full of twists and a nail-biting ending! Perfect for fans of T.M. Logan, John Marrs and Freida McFadden.

I didn’t realise that there were two books. Not happy having to pay twice for the same story, but wanted to hear the ending of a mediocre story. Unbelievably there was no end. Talk about being left hanging.

After thoroughly enjoying I Want Your Family, I was eager to see where Daniel Hurst would take this story next. Unfortunately, I Stole Your Family didn't quite live up to the high bar set by its predecessor. While there were moments that stayed on point, the overall storyline felt off track.

As a reader, I found myself hitting too many "yeah, right" moments. There were significant logic gaps that felt like they required too much of a leap of faith to overlook. It’s frustrating because I have a real love/hate relationship with Hurst’s work; one book will be an absolute hit for me, while the next misses the mark.

I can’t help but wonder if the pressure to produce books at such a high volume leads to a rushed final product. This story felt like it needed more time to breathe and tighten up; instead, the ending left me feeling more let down than satisfied.

The saving grace, as always, was the audiobook production. Having Clare Corbett among the narrators is a joy, and she managed to bring a level of gravity to the characters that kept me listening despite my gripes with the plot.

A decent enough popcorn thriller if you can switch your brain off, but for me, it lacked the airtight tension of the first book.
3/5

An overly drawn-out plot.
