About this listen

Mikey's family were Gypsies. They live in a closed community and little is known about their way of life. As he didn't go to school, the caravan became his world. But although Mikey inherited a vibrant culture, his family had a dark hidden history. Eventually Mikey was forced to make a decision – to stay and keep secrets, or escape and find somewhere to belong.

I heard about this Audiobook when it was recommended by Stephen Fry on a TV show. I thought I would 'give it a go' as something different to listen to.

When I had reached the end, I sat in silence for over an hour with tears streaming down my face.

Not only is this a riveting insight into the World of a Gypsy, it's the most gut-wrenching, inspiring and beautiful story of one man's journey to happiness.

This is an absolute MUST listen.

this story has every emotion you could imagine, laughter and sorrow, the style of story telling doesnt sugar coat anything, it describes it as Mikey lived, very cruel at times,
