Over 1 million Discworld audiobooks sold – discover the extraordinary universe of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld like never before

'It was the usual Ankh-Morpork mob in times of crisis; half of them were here to complain, a quarter of them were here to watch the other half, and the remainder were here to rob, importune or sell hotdogs to the rest.'

Insurrection is in the air in the city of Ankh-Morpork. The Haves and Have-Nots are about to fall out all over again.

Captain Sam Vimes of the city's ramshackle Night Watch is used to this. It's enough to drive a man to drink. Well, to drink more. But this time, something is different - the Have-Nots have found the key to a dormant, lethal weapon that even they don't fully understand, and they're about to unleash a campaign of terror on the city.

Time for Captain Vimes to sober up.

The Discworld novels can be read in any order but Guards! Guards! is the first book in the City Watch series.

'This is one of Pratchett's best books. Hilarious and highly recommended'

'Pratchett is at the peak of his powers; it's hard to think of any humorist writing in Britain today who can match him...A masterful ear for dialogue, a keen eye for the ridiculous and a real feel for language'

'The best humorous English author since P.G. Wodehouse'

I have to admit that I didn’t like the narration at the start. The tempo of saying a few words, then a pause, then continuing grated on me. BUT, sticking with it, it grew on me and the fantastic characterization of the voices (particularly Nobby and the Patrician) really bring the story to life.
The book itself is a classic and probably my favorite in the Diskworld series. It’s a must listen from me!

My new definitive version.

Almost somewhat absurdly at the age of 38 I finally got round to reading, or rather listening to my first Terry Pratchett Discworld novel.
JC does a fantastic job in providing detailed, nuanced and engaging characterisation, that fully allows you to immerse yourself in the story. As someone who has a sketchy history of being able to finish reading a book, I certainly had no problems listening to this, thoroughly enjoying it and even giving it the due respect to listen to the afterwords and end credits.
In regards to the novel itself, I doubt I could say anything new or different to what has already been said about a TP Discworld story. For me though one of the highlights of "Guards! Guards!" is the exploration of themes such as power, corruption, and the importance of standing up against injustice, all of which is still just as relevant today (perhaps even more so) than when it was written.
I would heartily encourage anyone to listen to this audiobook and allow yourself to be wrapped up in the Discworld, cheering on the City Watch as you go.

My first audible and TP book ever!

Guards! Guards! Was a great read the first time I read the book. A definite favourite. Full of imagination and humour. But with the added narration and performance of Jon Culshaw, it’s just sublime.
This is one audiobook I plan to enjoy again and again a and again…

A great story to listen too.

It makes me sad to think we’ll never get a new book of his, but rereading/listening to these gives me the same joy I had the first time and that is what is so special about his writing.

Pratchett was a master of his craft.
